Clark apni asli pehchan aur dharti par aane ka maqsad dhoodh hi raha hota hai, tabhi Krypton ka ek krur military commander, General Zod, apni sena ke sath wahan pahunch jata hai. General Zod dharti ko mita kar use ek naya Krypton banana chahta hai, jiske liye wo poori insaniyat ko khatam karne ki dhamki deta hai. End mein, Clark Kent apne andar ke superhero 'Superman' ko apnata hai, Lois Lane ki madad leta hai aur ek bhayanak ladai mein Zod ko rok kar dharti ka rakhwala ban jata hai.
